I don't know about you, but squirrels have decimated my tomatoes in the past. My husband has tried everything known to us to keep them out and away from our garden. Nothing worked. Pesky critters.
Last year we had our first ever raised bed garden as well as our first ever time having a dog while having a garden. I was pregnant at the time so I couldn't do a ton but I did brush Axel quite frequently in the spot where we were building and planting the garden. As the year went on we kept an eye out for the pesky squirrels but didn't see many! Which was amazing because we had just had one in our attic the year before, so we knew they were out there.
Then it hit me! It was the dog and brushing his hair. It had gotten all around the garden spot, and we let him go out and sniff around the garden as well. This year we have done the same thing continuously and so far we have had good results *knock on wood*.
If you don't have a dog, you could maybe try calling a local groomer and see if they would give you some of their leftover hair!
I did a video on it as well if you want to check it out. I hope this helps you be successful in keeping those squirrels away!
@kristenfulton1 This worked so well for us. We almost just gave up completely and decided to try one more time. We had a bumper crop of tomatoes! #gardeninghacks #gardening101 #keepsquirrelsout #gardeningtiktok ♬ original sound - Kristen
